WHAT WE STAND FOR?
Climate change, water scarcity, and other forms (or consequences) of pollution pose real, existential threats to our future. Their nature is talked about endlessly, yet they, for the general population, are still overwhelmingly out of reach. An individual cannot discern his own impact and so, chooses to ignore the gravity of the situation.
Mathematically, it makes sense. 1 in 7.6 billion cannot be the catalyst for change. That point of view, however, disregards for a major element in the equation - society is a set of individuals. To change a trend, “an overall behavioural pattern”, we have to change everyone. One person, one decision at a time.
HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO IT?
GAIA, our app, is then only an extension of this vision into real life. It continuously tracks and visualises the impact of an individual on our environment. Think fit-bit for an individual’s environmental footprint. A user actively tracks their behaviour and is assigned a rating, along with a planet and a quote to represent their behaviour.
What this does, is that it helps the user understand their impact - whether positive or negative - and incentivises them to start considering the environment in daily decision making.
